Everything is possible!

After the transfiguration experience, our Lord Jesus came down to the other disciples. There the disciples could not rise up to the authority our Lord gave them to exercise. There was an arguement on the efficiency of the disciples in curing and expelling a demon. There were the teachers of the law who were mainly arguing. (Mark 9:16)

This was again similar to the noise in the camp when Moses returned with the commandments. The people in Exodus 32 didn’t know the Lord who led them out of the bondage in Egypt and made for themselves a god.

The father brought the son to the Lord Jesus “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”

Our Lord opined that it was unbelief that kept the generation from operating in the kingdom authority much similar to the root issue that Israelites had while they sojourned in the desert. The Lord asked them to bring the child to Him.

“When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.”(Mark 9:20)

In this case it was the spirit that saw Jesus and threw the boy into a convulsion. Many issues in people and societies are the work of evil spirits and only when the spirits that operate them see the Lord Jesus, will there be deliverance.

Our Lord asked the father of the child a question, “How long has he been like this?”

“From childhood,” he answered. “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”(Mark 9:22)

This son is also an image of Israel, who went through fire and water due to evil spirits that waged war against them. It was in a way a spiritual battle and only the one who was sent by God(Messiah) could help them.

Our Lord is able, He is strong to bring restoration as we trust in Him.

The spiritual principle again would be , ““Everything is possible for one who believes.”

When we believe in the Lord, we should always persevere in prayer. Some demonic attacks can only be driven by fasting and prayer. Hence the disciples who were not able to operate much in the name of the Lord had to take a cue. Prayer and fasting are the signs of a believing heart and impossibilities turn possible.

““Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.”(Mark 9:24–27)

Our Lord commanded the spirit to come out of the boy and also issued a command not to enter him again.

Israel and the world looked like dead, but Jesus took us by the hand and lifted us to our feet and now we stand by His grace.
